Oracle Takes The Limits Off Its Support Deadline

Oracle announced its new "Applications Unlimited" yesterday at COLLABORATE 06, removing the 2013 deadline that previously existed for halting any new development of its PeopleSoft applications.

The new Applications Unlimited program will allow customers of its PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, and Siebel applications to continue to receive newly developed applications and support far beyond 2013.

Oracle originally intended to launch its Fusion product and fuse the PeopleSoft applications with its new architecture and middleware. However, Oracle has had to re-think that strategy putting out dates that extended beyond the original 2008 debut.

I can't tell you how pleased I am, with the new announcement by Oracle. I think that Oracle made a very wise decision that will allow its customers to really focus on implementing and upgrading their existing PeopleSoft applications. Furthermore, many PeopleSoft consultants have been worried about their future as a PeopleSoft consultant, and I think this will be a big relief to them.

I can tell you that I, personally, am extremely happy with this news. Of course, I have a huge stake in the future of PeopleSoft applications, being a PeopleSoft consultant myself, and the owner of PSoftPros.

My clients are telling me that they are more than satisfied with their current PeopleSoft products and really do not want to change to a different architecture, i.e. Fusion, or even a new Product. Oracle's "Application Unlimited" is the answer they have been waiting to hear.
