NATURE OF WORK This is an immediate remote Production support opportunity for one year (renewable)as PepleSoft System administrator/DBA to work with a US Educational client. This position will maintain all databases for administrative systems of an educational institution. Database design, structure, implementation, production, and maintenance are included with this position. Technical knowledge of computing hardware, database software, and database structures such as relational and object are required. A thorough understanding of the management information data needs of an educational institution is needed. Knowledge of utilities to ensure optimal performance, backups and recovery strategies, and software upgrades is required. This position requires availability for any implementation and production issues related to databases and takes technical leadership from the Principal Database Administrator. Will be working with PeopleSoft modules Core HCM, Finance, Student Administration, eProcurement etc PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1 Maintain the application database environment; creating and maintaining databases; providing support for developers.
2 Maintaining Production, Demo, Development, Testing, and other required environments; scheduling and verifying regular backups; and performing system recoveries as needed. 3 Providing technical knowledge of systems and data; preparing technical specifications for customizations, interfaces, custom reports and development of new applications as it relates to database work and supported application systems. 4 Accomplishing data mapping and file conversion; developing and testing customization, interface, report, conversion, and new application programs; assisting in all phases of administrative software system testing. 5 Works closely with developers on database design, implementation, optimizing application systems, and performing administrative system patches and fixes and upgrades. 6 Works closely with Principal Database Administrator and Network Services staff on backups and recovery of systems and databases. 7 Maintain integrity and security of databases working closely with the Director of IT Security and Principal Database Administrator. 8 Schedule and perform operating systems, application systems and database upgrades. 9 Regularly monitor and optimize systems and databases for performance. 10 Regularly report system and database performance statistics, audit for security, and utilization of application servers. 11 Specifically responsible for PeopleSoft application performance and application database and server installations and upgrades. 12 Maintain a thorough understanding of PeopleSoft table structures and their relationships. |
